One of my favorite times to be in the mountains, spring flowers along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville NC is always an awesome treat for the eyes as well as the soul. It's this time of the year when the Catawba Rhododendron spring to life under frequent afternoon thunderstorms in the Southern Appalachians, providing dramatic skies and dappled light over thick layers of fresh spring flowers in bloom.
