Summer Laurel - Asheville NC Blue Ridge Parkway Sring Flowers Scenic Landscape
Blooming mountain laurel along the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, North Carolina. Mountain Laurel, sometimes called calico-bush or spoonwood, is a native flowering bush that is common in the Southern Appalachian Mountains. It typically blooms in late spring to early summer in a variety of colors, and makes for some beautiful scenes in the mountains at its peak. I shot this image near Craggy Gardens while leading my annual "Spring in the Highlands" photography workshop a year or two ago and it recently caught my eye when I was transferring some images to a new storage drive. I can't wait to get out and shoot these again with a great group of folks at this year's event!

WOW - What a magnificent landscape image! This composition has everything from bright puffy clouds, blue sky, distant haze covered mountains, a lake, rolling hills, brilliant shades of green foliage and beautiful red and pink flowers filling the foreground. Well done as always, Dave!
