Blue Ridge Mountains Sunset from Southern Blue Ridge Parkway - The Burning Eye

Spectacular sunset from the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina just south of Asheville. I shot this image during my "Autumn Landscapes" workshop last fall which explores the Southern Appalachians. This was a very difficult shot to pull off in a single exposure as the contrast was extreme, but the scene was too good to ignore.
