I've been wanting to try this again for quite some time, so here is a new autumn forest landscape using the vertical panning technique. The tall trees and the forest floor covered in fresh autumn color combined with the heavy fog that lends a great sense of depth seemed to be a scene made for panning.
I have always liked these types of abstract shots, a landscape photograph that is still open to some interpretation similar to a painting. I feel this technique can really minimize all of the details in a scene like this, leaving behind only the raw elements to focus on. I like how a scene that is so abundant in detail can be diminished to it's base elements of light, ground, and trees. The Essence of the Forest perhaps...
